A Fitting End, in Light of a Dispicable Beginning

I came accross this serendipity reading a trackback on Michelle Malkin's site.
The Cassandra Page asserts that Rather's career began by smearing a bunch of elementary school kids. This happened on the day president Kennedy was killed. He ran an unconfirmed story from a person with a like-minded agendum on a particular issue. In this case a Methodist (as the United Methodist Church was known in 1963) minister who wanted to portray Dallas as a hot bed of intolerance. So intolerant that they had taught their children to cheer at news of the death of the president. Problem is that with a minimum of legwork, Mr. Rather would have learned that it never happened. Sound familiar?
