As some of you know, I have diverticulosis. Which is pretty benign in and of itself. If, however, one of the diverticulae becomes inflamed or infected it becomes diverticulitis which can develope into peritinitis. About a month back I had what seemed to be the onset of a diverticulitis attack. It passed, sort of. I noticed when I went back to rugby practice the pain in the lower left persisted but no other symptoms.
I visited the doctor last week who referred me to a gastrointerologist. Yesterday the gi ordered me to have a colonoscopy. All I can say at this point is that there will definately be no posts here on June 7 except maybe to report results.
I will spare you a blow-by-blow of the event, though. I am hoping this rules out the necessity for surgery and more time lost from work.
Donations will be appreciated though as I've already lost time and income due to whatever is causing this incessant pain.
Because everybody has a stack of them
Honest debate welcome.

This weekend about 1500 or so rugby players will converge on Columbia. Why? Because, this weekend, YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH COLUMBIA TO GET TO SAN DIEGO!

Impeach Judge Kirk
Accorsing to Lost In Lima Ohio ,Circuit Judge Philip Kirk seems to think girls who, BY LAW, cannot consent are able to have to have consentual sex. After refusing to impose sentence on the felony, the prosecutor went "over the head" of Hizzoner and the full sentence (including placement on the sex offender registry) was imposed. Then Kirk stayed the sentence for 100 years.
In all likelyhood, the perp will be back in front of a judge on similar charges. We can only hope it is not Judge Kirk. We can only hope that the Judge Kirks of the world are impeached if they refuse to follow the law.

NBC Strikes Again
Some Loser is a guy who made a date with a 13 year-old. His I-didn't-take-a-shower defense is almost good for a few laughs. Wonder if the DA got a few snickers from it. At least he has a real crime to prosecute rather than trying to pin a non-existant crime on Rush Limbaugh (assuming this is the same county in FL).

This is GREAT News...That you won't see on the 6:00 Oclock News
According to Captain Ed, CENTCOM has captured Al Queda correspondence discussing the state of AQ all over Iraq. They are not happy about the state of affairs either. The AQ folk acknowledge that they can only pose an annoyance to the government. Sure they are going to take people out via car bombs, etc. but they seem to lack the strength to seriously threaten the long term stability of the government.
Captain's Quarters has more in-depth (and better) coverage and analysis than I can provide.Follow the above link over there.
My guess is the MSM won't cover this except to ask, "Why aren't we out of there?"

Even if it is a Hoax...
...it does not make our enemies any more human. According to Rusty Shackleford'sThe Jawa Report: Atwar Bahjat Beheading Video a Hoax (Images / Video) it turns out the video purporting to be the murder of Atwar Bahjat was a hoax, sort of.
It was only a hoax in that is does not show the murder of Ms. Bahjat. It does show a murder though. They are still yelling, "Allahu Akbar!" in the background. They are still our enemy and the enemy of all freedom-loving humanity. Like I said earlier, it still is not for the faint of heart. Rusty has the link to the vid.

No, That is Not Our National Anthem
Unless you have been living in a cave, you have either heard or heard of Nuestro Himno. It purports to be the US national anthem in Spanish. Likewise, we have also heard how we are racists if we do not like the national anthem in Spanish. I probably would have no problem with it if it was the Star Spangled Banner simply sung in Spanish.Cao’s Blog here is the translation of Nuestro Himno:
It’s sunrise. Do you see by the light of the dawn
What we proudly hailed last nightfall?
Its stars, its stripes
yesterday streamed
above fierce combat
a symbol of victory
the glory of battle, the march toward liberty.
Throughout the night, they proclaimed: “We will defend it!”
Chorus
Tell me! Does its starry beauty still wave
above the land of the free,
the sacred flag?
Chant:
It’s time to make a difference the kids, men and the women
Let’s stand for our beliefs, let’s stand for our vision/What about the children, los ninos ?
These kids have no parents, cause all of these mean laws.
See this can’t happen, not only about the Latins.
Asians, blacks and whites and all they do is adding
more and more, let’s not start a war
with all these hard workers,
they can’t help where they were born.
Verse 2
Its stars, its stripes,
Liberty, we are the same.
We are brothers in our anthem.
In fierce combat, a symbol of victory
the glory of battle,
(My people fight on)
the march toward liberty.
(The time has come to break the chains.)
Throughout the night they proclaimed: “We will defend it!”
Tell me! Does its starry beauty still wave
above the land of the free,
the sacred flag?
Here are the words to "The Star Spangled Banner", originally titled, "The Defense of Fort McHenry"
Oh, say can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, now conceals, now discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines on the stream:
‘Tis the star-spangled banner! O long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wiped out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven-rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, for our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner forever shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Now some could argue that the translation was idiomatic. Sorry, that does not wash. A true translation does not seek to alter the meaning of the original, but to convey the message so it can be understood in another language. This is not a translation, but a dishonest rewriting into another language.

Errr, Pastor, God would like to have a Word with You
It is one thing for churches to support the rights of immigrants. It is also one thing for the church to show Christian love and charity to those people who have entered a country illegally. I have no problems with either of those. However, when it comes to pastors allowing their churches to become mosques, then we have a problem.
This is not one denomination allowing the fledgling congregation of another church to use their abandoned old sanctuary. This is allowing the desecration of a place consecrated for Christian worship. Moving altars, covering icons so the Muslims can have their prayer services. They are desecrating the churches and doing so with the apparent blessing of the priests/pastors of the churches involved. These "defenders of the faith" must be removed from their positions and defrocked.
There are mosques in Belgium so there is no need for Christian churches to be handing themselves over for desecration to become more mosques.

Part of me died when I saw this cruel killing - Sunday Times - Times Online is not for the faint of heart. Nor does it need anything I can add to it. Thank you (I think) Michelle Malkin

Gee, but Life is so Unfair
According to "ehticists", the catch-a-perv-in-the-act movement we see regarding online predators "crosses the line" WHAT LINE? Mosey on over to Raven's And Rightly So! Citizen Pedophile Seekers and give it a read.
It seems that these ethicists are afraid that, “We may get a whole raft of people who are entrapped into committing crimes that they otherwise wouldn’t normally do". Somebody needs to tell these people that the contact is most often initiated by the predator. I would agree that if, and ONLY IF, the decoy makes the first move they would have a point.
What I would like to know is where the Boston Herald's "ethicists" are on the subject of adults having sexually oriented conversations with children in the first place. They are overly concerned with entrapment. These are supposedly adults. Adults who have an experiential advantage over these children and think nothing of exploiting it. Just because they think Humbert Humbert is a role model does not make it right.
If a pervert is looking for a "sweet young thing" and initiates the transaction and gets busted by a decoy.... Well in the words of Loki, "Dry tears shall I cry"

Why let a Pre-Planned Speech go to Waste
Zacarias Moussaoui's mother was apparently prepared to see her little darling get the death sentence and didn't want to waste the statement she was ready to release for the occasion. According toFOXNews.com , Aicha El Wafi said,"My son will be buried alive because France didn't dare contradict the Americans". Her son brags about what he did, is spared the death penalty and she's unhappy? I don't know why, apparently she's been itching to to play the race card all along. It's just that now she sounds even more ridiculous doing it.

Very Interesting
It seems that Pedophiles' Pal Planned Parenthood has the same problem with email based rumors as Christians. Writing for The Dawn Patrol, The Raving Atheist tells of what may become PP's counterpart to the persistant rumor that Madelyn Murray O'Hare is still trying to end religious broadcasting (apparently from the grave as the wording of this letter has not changed one iota since it first surfaced).
There is an email being circulated among abortion supporters claiming that Crisis Pregnancy Center that shares a parking lot with a local branch of Margret Sanger's organization. According to the email :
If this is true, and I have my doubts, then the staff at that CPC needs to be fired abd prosecuted for fraud. As much as I abhor abortion, the deliberate use of falsehood must never be in our arsenal.
Why do I doubt the story? For one thing, given PP's history of fear mongering this story would have been all over the news. I don't buy the explanation that they were protecting the girl's privacy. A news release could leave out that information. Fortunately there are ways to check the veracity with a little leg work. Which is what commenters at Dawn Patrol did. One found the locations of the PP offices in Indiana. Another found the CPC locations in Indiana. A third cited Generations for Life which pointed out this:
I can only conclude that this is most likely a slanderous hoax. If, however, it proves to be true I hope that those responsible are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Likewise if it proves to be a hoax.

An Indiana mother recently accompanied her daughter and her daughter's boyfriend to one of Indiana's Planned Parenthood clinics, but they unwittingly walked into a "crisis pregnancy center" run by an anti-abortion group -- one that shared a parking lot with the real Planned Parenthood clinic, and was designed expressly to lure Planned Parenthood patients and deceive them.
The group took down the girl's confidential personal information and told her to come back for her appointment, which they said would be in their "other office" (the real Planned Parenthood office nearby). When she arrived for her appointment, not only did the Planned Parenthood staff have no record of her, but the police were there -- the "crisis pregnancy center" had called them, claiming that a minor was being forced to have an abortion against her will.
The "crisis pregnancy center" staff then proceeded to wage a campaign of intimidation and harassment over the following days, showing up at the girl's home and calling her father's workplace. Our clinic director reports that she was "scared to death to leave her house." They even went to her school and urged classmates to pressure her not to have an abortion.
If this is true, and I have my doubts, then the staff at that CPC needs to be fired abd prosecuted for fraud. As much as I abhor abortion, the deliberate use of falsehood must never be in our arsenal.

It occurred to me today that if, in fact, the Indianapolis Police had shown up at the Planned Parenthood acting on a tip that a girl was being forced to have an abortion, they obviously would have filed a police report.
Since police reports are matters of public record[emphasis added here], I called the Indianapolis Police Department to find out if there was any police report that would corroborate Planned Parenthood’s version of events.
The woman I spoke with at IPD did a search and came up with: nothing.
I also asked her to do a search on the crisis pregnancy center. Again: nothing.
If the CPC really did engage in “a campaign of intimidation and harassment,” it’s rather hard to believe that the police were never contacted. If Planned Parenthood cares so much about women, wouldn’t their first move have been to call the police on the girl’s behalf before telling the public?
I can only conclude that this is most likely a slanderous hoax. If, however, it proves to be true I hope that those responsible are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Likewise if it proves to be a hoax.

To Catch a Predator Post Mortem
Before I get started, be sure to checkLost In Lima Ohio's live blog of the episode.
This was a veritable smorgasbord. A married:with children son of a prosecutor; a guy who looks more like a kid than some of the decoys; a couple of fortysomethings, one convict who was to report to start serving his sentence on a similar charge and there was one guy who never made it there but was already wnated on a similar charge. One was incredibly smug, until his arrest and he tried (half-heartedly) to stab himself with a pen. I really have no sympathy for any of these guys.
In all likelihood Lilo and will be getting return visits from "Gary" and "Todd" defending themselves and their fellow travellers from this "hatemongering". Save your finger muscles for writing on your own blogs. I will not entertain anymore debates on this.
There are more of these forthcoming from Dateline. Please watch them and thank NBC for this public service.

Don't Forget
Tonight Dateline: NBC will be doing another internet predator sting.Lost In Lima Ohio might be live-blogging it. As of this writing nothing is etched in stone. I will have a post mortem later on.
I would Join this Boycott, but...
...I never celebrate Cinco de Mayo anyway. In May 1st Boycott Back On, Let’s Boycott ‘Cinco de Mayo’, the Uncooperative Blogger suggests boycotting the usuall May 5th celebration.I don't celebrate Cinco de Mayo because I am not of Hispanic extraction. That and I think that Corona is brewed by putting good beer in a trough and a bucket under a goat. Likewise, I do not observe St. Patrick's Day because I am not an Irish Catholic. I do, however observe Robert Burns day since I am of Scotish extraction. I do not, however, use the day as an excuse to go drinking. This is a round about way of saying, me boycotting Cinco de Mayo would prove nothing.
To me the bigger question is why are there enough US citizens celebrating May 5 that a boycott would send a palpable message?

Oh to have been There
Cigar Intelligence Agency has what must be the greatest response to a smug defense attorney in the history of jurisprudence:
If you ever testify in court, you might wish you could have been as
sharp as this policeman. He was being cross-examined by a defense attorney during a felony trial. The lawyer was trying to undermine the policeman’s credibility…
Q: Officer — did you see my client fleeing the scene?
A: No sir. But I subsequently observed a person matching the
description of the offender, running several blocks away.
Q: Officer — who provided this description?
A: The officer who responded to the scene.
Q: A fellow officer provided the description of this so-called offender. Do you trust your fellow officers?
A: Yes, sir. With my life.
Q: With your life? Let me ask you this then officer. Do you have a room where you change your clothes in preparation for your daily duties?
A: Yes sir, we do!
Q: And do you have a locker in the room?
A: Yes sir, I do.
Q: And do you have a lock on your locker?
A: Yes sir.
Q: Now why is it, officer, if you trust your fellow officers with your life, you find it necessary to lock your locker in a room you share with these same officers?
A: You see, sir — we share the building with the court complex, and sometimes lawyers have been known to walk through that room.
The courtroom erupted in laughter, and a prompt recess was called.

Closing the Barn after the Horse is Out
More than half a year after Katrina, Ray Nagin comes up with an evacuation plan for New Orleans. At least he is doing something, but why didn't he do this sooner rather than during a run off election?
No further plans have been made public for his "chocolate city".

As Much as I'm Glad to see This...
Columbia, SC is going to get a professional basketball team. It seems there is a new American Basketball Association (ABA). Well this brings us to theColumbia Rottweilers. They will be holding open tryouts, I rather like this feature. You are not as likely to see the pampered superstar types you have in the NBA.
I only have one problem, the name "Rotweilers". I have nothing against the breed, but when the team name gets shortened (like it is at the top of its website) it looks like the opinions held by people in Charleston, Greenville or Spartanburg (or just about any part of the state outside Columbia). That's right, "Columbia Rotts". Now they have a team that proudly proclaims it.

A Day without Immigrants Illegal Aliens: The Aftermath
1)The sun rose on the next day.
2)People continued to engage in commerce just like the day before.
3)Some will join the ranks of the unemployed and hopefully deported
4)Some businesses will find their customers were unimpressed by their support of the illegals. At least not impressed in a way that will be positive for their long term solvency

Just a Reminder
No, I haven't forgot about the pedophiles and others who wish to exploit children for thier own gratification.
There will be another entertaining evening of pedophile perp walks Wednesday on Dateline: NBC. There is one particularly smug SOB in the promo I will especially enjoy watching go to the klink.

What Effect?
Captain Ed has an excellant analysis of the mixed feelings in the Hispanic community, especially those involved with the illegal immigration debate, about today's planned national walk out. Some are actually thinking about the possible backlash in public opinion from the walk out.
He also has a question for ANSWER:
He also has a question for ANSWER:
"Mexicans Without Borders supports many of the same leftist agenda items as ANSWER -- anti-war, opposed to national sovereignty, and anti-globalization.
Speaking of which, has anyone ever asked these dolts how they can oppose national sovereignty in the same breath as globalization?"
Light Traffic Today? No Problem
If there is light traffic on the blog today I won't mind because it will mean you had better things to do today. Things like going to work and not participating in the walk out. Things like doing business with those concerns who did not shut down in support of same. Things like avoiding, from here on out, those business that did shut down in support of same.
